Don't You Mean "Folk"?
Nope. I meant what I wrote.
Filk.
No one's really sure where the word came from, but it
appears to have origins with the word "folk".
Filksongs are songs that generally come from what
could loosely be called "fandom". Fandom generally includes
science fiction and fantasy buffs, members of the
Society for Creative Anachronism,
Tolkien fans, Pagans and more. Thus, a "Filksing" is a
gathering of people who desire to sing Filk together. There
are Filking groups across the country, if you're lucky enough to
happen across one. (For the record, the Earthdaughter website
would be more than happy to host a listing of Filking groups across
the world. Please
contact us with your
listing information.)
These pages are here to keep those hard to find songs
alive on the Internet, such as
Banned From Argo,
The
Murderous Little Toy,
You Bash The Balrog,
and others. If you know of a song that should be archived
here, please
contact us with that
information and in most cases, we'll be happy to add it to our
pages. Please be sure to include all author contact
information, if possible, so we don't step on any toes by hosting
the Filk here.
